5Rhythms®
Embodied Movement Practice
5Rhythms® is an embodied movement practice that invites you to come home to your body and reconnect with your natural vitality. With the support of my years of experience in facilitation and holding space, the practice unfolds in a way that feels both guided and expansive. While the movements are not choreographed, the structure I offer helps you feel grounded and supported as you discover your own authentic, freeing, and uniquely personal dance.
These classes and workshops are not about performance; they are about showing up as you are, moving what’s real, and discovering what emerges.
This practice is open to everyone, whatever your level of experience or physical ability.
There are no steps to learn, only an invitation to be curious and move in the way your body wants to move.
Much like journaling with the body, 5Rhythms® can help reveal what lives beneath the surface. It offers fresh insight, helps you process what you carry, and deepens your connection with yourself and others.
Whether you are longing for more aliveness, presence and connection, moving through life’s challenges, or simply curious about exploring movement, this practice creates a supportive space to shift energy, spark creativity, connect with others and discover new layers of yourself.
What to expect in my 5Rhythms® class or workshop
I will be guiding you with my instructions and with my choice of music.
I will guide you through a warm up and then through a 70 minute 5Rhythms® Wave where the music typically builds to a peak before winding down (hence the reason it is called a wave).
Each of the 5 rhythms: Flow, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness, has its own energetic quality. We usually spend approximately 20 minutes in each rhythm, exploring how it inspires us to move. As we move from one rhythm into the next, we dance a 5Rhythms® Wave.
I will be DJ’ing recorded music from around the world that will support and inspire you to move your body.
You will need to bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing. We dance barefoot or in dance shoes/soft running shoes.
Kate is a certified 5Rhythms® teacher accredited with the 5Rhythms® Teachers Association. All study hours with Kate count as prerequisites towards future 5Rhythms® teacher trainings.
Health & Wellness Agreements: We expect any dancers experiencing cold/flu symptoms to stay home to care for themselves, and the rest of the group. If you choose to attend a class or workshop, you acknowledge that there is a risk of contracting an illness as a result of attending, and you are assuming full responsibility for your choice to attend, and any illnesses or injuries that may result.
